AUSTRALIA. Lagardère Travel Retail has partnered with Townsville Brewing Company to open The Bar in Queensland’s Townsville Airport.
The new bar offers the brewing company’s Townsville Bitter and Tropical Coast Pale Ale on tap along with a rotating showcase of different brews. The Bar also serves Campos Coffee, one of Australia’s speciality coffee roasters, along with a selection of bakery, sandwiches and pastries.
Lagardère has renovated The Bar and increased its trading space from 60sq m to 102sq m. The outlet’s design celebrates the brewery and local area and features a large historical image of Flinders Street and the old Townsville Post Office.
Lagardère Travel Retail Chief Strategy & Development Officer – Pacific Paul Ryan said an agile and innovative approach was necessary to create an “exceptional” experience. He said: “To partner with such a strong and iconic local brand as Townsville Brewing Company, while bringing to life a shared vision with Townsville Airport, is exciting.”
Townsville Brewing Company Head Brewer Sam Lloyd emphasised the importance of the local products. “We are pleased to be partnering with Lagardère Travel Retail and the airport to bring fresh local produce to the gateway of North Queensland. It’s critical that big business supports smaller local businesses, and we are confident the airport will provide great exposure to our offering of local goods.”
