US. Lamar Advertising has unveiled four new LED digital advertising displays at San Antonio International Airport, as part of its commitment to an overhaul of signage at the travel hub.
Two digital installations have been completed in the airport’s baggage claim area, in the shape of a flat-panel display above an entrance and a column wrap.
The other installations are a ribbon display and a quatrefoil, a four-lobed geometric shape, both in the airport’s TSA check-in area.
The LED display solutions were supplied by NanoLumens and integrated by VIA Technology.
Lamar Advertising Airport Project Manager Michael Neck said: “During the acquisition of new airports or renovations on current contracts with our airport partners, Lamar always seeks to find digital advertising opportunities that complement the airport aesthetics, enhance the passenger experience, and deliver great opportunities for local and national advertisers to get their messages to their clients.”
NanoLumens Global Sales Manager for Airports and Transportation Eric Siegler said the use of LED signage is the ideal solution for airports such as San Antonio International, which have high levels of ambient light. He said: “It’s important for advertisers that passengers have access to clearly visible signage, so that signage needs to be able to stand out even when an environment is filled with sunlight.”
He added: “LED is really the only solution bright enough to do this, so it was the right technology for what Lamar and the airport were trying to accomplish.”
As reported, Lamar Advertising was awarded a ten-year contract to upgrade and manage advertising signage at San Antonio International in January 2019.
