CHILE. LanChile, Chile’s largest domestic and international airline, has reported preliminary monthly and accumulated traffic statistics and punctuality indicators for November 2003.
System passenger traffic for November increased +23.2%, while capacity increased +11.8%. As a result, the carrier’s load factor increased 6.8 points to 72.8%.
International passenger traffic for November increased +32.3% while capacity increased +18.1%. Accordingly, the international passenger load factor for the month increased 7.9 points to 73.6%. These results reflected increased traffic to and from several markets, especially Chile, US, Europe, Mexico, Ecuador and Argentina, due to market share gains, improvements in demand and the launch of new routes.
Domestic passenger traffic for October decreased +3.4% as capacity decreased -7.2%. As a consequence, the domestic load factor for the month increased 2.8 points to 69.6%. Soft demand and increased competition affected the domestic passenger business.
