FRANCE. Lancôme has unveiled a new, premium anti-ageing skin care treatment called Secret de Vie. It is being launched in key European and US markets in March/April, and will be rolled out to South Korea and Thailand from May.
Secret de Vie Ultimate Cellular Reviving Crème is described as a luxurious, multi-tasking treatment that is able to reactivate skin “as though it were injecting new life into the very heart of [the] cells”.
The key ingredient is Extrait de Vie, a complex that concentrates six active ingredients from the Lancôme laboratories, carefully dosed to deliver six targeted actions on six major types of skin cell (fibroblasts, keratinocytes, melanocytes, coenocytes, nerve endings and Langerhans cells).
This extract is claimed to be able to reactivate all the skin’s essential functions, from the surface to deep down, in order to smooth and firm skin, and boost its natural defences.
Extrait de Vie was tested on human skin – taken from plastic surgery – at the Hôpital Pitié Salpêtrière in Paris. The studies demonstrated that it stimulated the metabolism of cells by a full 118%, according to Lancôme.
Secret de Vie is presented in a spherical glass jar, engraved with a gold-coloured rose. It is packaged in a fabric-effect presentation box, complete with spatula applicator, and encased in an outer sleeve.
The recommended domestic price point is €200 for 50ml.
