Looking to a new experience at LAX |
I’m in Los Angeles this week for the highly anticipated unveiling of the new Tom Bradley International Terminal – a landmark in more ways than one. |
The Moodie Report Vice Chairman Dermot Davitt is on location for the unveiling of the new terminal’s highly anticipated commercial offer. The new programme is the result of a US$79.8 million investment from Westfield.
The core of the redeveloped terminal is the 150,000sq ft Great Hall, featuring 36 retail and 31 food & beverage outlets, with several new to airport retail and a diverse, 22-strong offer of local concepts.
“Westfield is pleased to bring our global resources and experience in creating iconic shopping destinations to transform LAX, starting in the new Tom Bradley International Terminal – our global gateway,” said Westfield Group Co-Chief Executive Peter S. Lowy. “We have leveraged Westfield’s award-winning design capabilities with the best local brands to completely transform the airport experience into the LAX travelers have dreamed of, and the LAX they deserve.”

Among concessionaires, DFS is readying what it describes as a landmark airport luxury retail programme, following an investment of US$25 million that will more than double its presence at the airport.
DFS Chairman and CEO Philippe Schaus said: “With our investment in the new concessions and boutiques, as well as the addition of 100 jobs to our retail operations, we have every confidence that we will very soon be able to begin delivering all world travellers at LAX one of the most exciting and luxurious shopping experiences available today.”
The US$1.9 billion new terminal will shortly become the main USA West Coast entry and departure point for international travellers.

“The Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX is the first and last impression nine million travelers have of Los Angeles every year,” said Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. “This new terminal enhances passenger safety and security, while giving travelers the first-class airport experience they expect from a world-class city like Los Angeles.”
Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners President Michael Lawson added: “LAX is the West Coast’s premier international gateway – especially to Asia Pacific, the fastest growing commercial aviation region in the world. The new terminal will improve passenger comfort, convenience and safety, and will help LAX retain its global competitiveness.”
NOTE: We’ll bring you more on this major international terminal development – and on a milestone programme from Westfield and DFS – across The Moodie Report’s formats in the coming days.
