The Estée Lauder Companies-owned niche fragrance brand Le Labo has released its first-ever line of travel retail exclusive fine fragrances. The collection comprises seven scents and is available in travel-friendly 30ml bottles. They are now available in selected Le Labo travel retail locations worldwide.
The collection includes the Another 13, Baie 19, Bergamote 22, Lys 41, Rose 31, Santal 33 and Thé Noir 29 scents. Each fragrance is available as an eau de parfum, perfume oil, travel tube and liquid balm.
Le Labo was founded in 2006 by Fabrice Penot and Eddie Roschi, positioned as an alternative to the designer-led offerings that populated the luxury fragrance market. The brand, which only releases one fragrance a year, has grown to become a cult-favourite among customers and was acquired by The Estée Lauder Companies in 2019.
Another 13 was originally launched in 2010 as the result of a special collaboration with fashion publication AnOther Magazine and French multibrand boutique Colette. The name Another 13 plays on the idea of superstition and references the 13 ingredients that make up the fragrance. The core ingredient is Ambroxan, which was hand-picked by AnOther Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jefferson Hack in the Le Labo lab in New York.
Baie 19 is a crisp, wet fragrance that was inspired by ‘petrichor,’ which is the smell of the earth after the rain. Baie 19 offers dry juniper berry (Baie is the word for berry in French) and patchouli notes.
Bergamote 22 is a fresh, sweet and sensual scent which the brand describes as a ‘fire cologne’. It blends fruity floral orange blossom and grapefruit with sweet amber, musk and vetiver base notes.
Lys 41 is a white floral fragrance that combines jasmine, tuberose absolute and lily notes, with Madagascan vanilla and musk notes as its base; while Rose 31 is an androgynous scent, developed to turn the famous ‘Grasse Rose’ into an ingredient that can be worn by both men and women. Rose 31 balances floral Centifola rose heart notes with warm and spicy cumin, olibanum, cedar and amber base notes, with hints of guaiac wood and cistus.
Santal 33 takes its inspiration from the classic American Marlboro ads and has been described as “an olfactive form of the great American myth.” The sensual fragrance features cardamom, iris, violet and amble notes, balanced with spicy and leathery sandalwood and cedarwood.
Finally, Thé Noir 29 is an homage to the craft of tea-making. It balances bergamot, fig and bay leaves with woody notes of cedarwood, vetiver and musk. The fragrance is completed with a special extraction of black tea leaves.
