The new Muji store at HKIA is expected to hit sales of US$2.2 million in year one |
HONG KONG. Lifestyle brand Muji has opened a 159sq m Muji To Go concept store at Hong Kong International Airport.
The new concept store, located on Level 6 of the Northwest Concourse, offers a range of compact and functional travel-related or portable products.
To promote the opening of the new store, the brand will offer a new pouch and bag set in spring colours, with simple check and dot patterns. Other products include pocket-size food and drinks, portable electric appliances, relaxing music CDs and compact desktop accessories for the mobile office.
The merchandise selection is targeted towards business travellers, tourists, and student and family travellers, as well as air crew and airport staff, said Muji. It includes clothing at 20% of the mix, home and bath at 13%, stationery at 15%, home living at 10%, other travel goods at 25%, and food at 17%.
The first year’s turnover is estimated to reach HKD$17 million (US$2.2 million).
Muji said: “The Muji To Go airport store design centres on white as its theme colour, with wooden materials to create a harmonious atmosphere and provide a sense of comfort and natural surroundings in the midst of a busy travel schedule.”
