UK. Premium confectionery brand Lindt & Sprüngli recently partnered with Dufry in a month-long activation at London Heathrow Terminal 4.
Located in a high-traffic retailtainment space, the promotion – Lindt’s largest in travel retail to date – spotlighted Lindor products and the work of its Maître Chocolatiers. According to the partners, the activation resulted in high double-digit growth in sell-out over the activation period.
The promotion included large video screens, red and gold Lindor branding and ribbons to add a gifting element, with a Lindt Maître Chocolatier on hand to prepare chocolates.
“This additional touch of retail theatre and samples of freshly made Lindor created a strong pull into the promotional space from the surrounding retail environment,” the partners said.
Personalisation offers included gift wrapping and cards, with messages such as Happy Birthday, Best Wishes, For You and Thought of You. Shoppers were also encouraged to add their own wishes. The gifting ritual was completed with a printed Lindt ribbon and an exclusive carrier bag.

Lindt & Sprüngli Global Travel Retail Head Peter Zehnder said: “This activation is a real statement of intent from Lindt. Gifting – the Delight pillar of our category vision – is a truly year-round opportunity, and a purchasing driver that resonates with a wide range of shoppers, particularly in an accessible category like chocolate.
“We’re delighted to showcase our creativity and gifting expertise with Dufry at one of Europe’s major hubs and look forward to partnering with them further to drive growth in gifting.”
Dufry Global Category Head – Confectionery, Food, Souvenirs & Toys Philippe Moryl commented: “We are delighted to partner with Lindt & Sprüngli Global Travel Retail to deliver a unique gifting experience.
“We’re always looking for ways to enrich customers’ retail experience in our stores and especially at London Heathrow. This activation encompasses all ingredients to make our customers happier: high quality products, high service standards and personalisation opportunities.
“Great and successful combination that we have designed with leading brand partner on gifting segment.”
