Lindt Swiss Masterpieces range set for pre-launch at Zürich

Lindt, in partnership with Dufry, is pre-launching its travel retail exclusive Swiss Masterpieces Praline Collection this month at Zürich Airport before a worldwide launch in March at Dubai Duty Free.

As part of the promotion, the Lindt Boutique on the upper level at Zürich and the Lindt Island on the lower level of the Airside Center have been transformed into a celebration of the Swiss Masterpieces. Lindt Master Chocolatiers are present at both locations, allowing travellers the opportunity to see them create the centrepiece of the range, the Dôme de Noisette. A series of praline sampling events are also taking place.

Dufry Group Global Category Head, Food & Confectionery, Toys and Souvenirs Manuela Facheris said: “The concept of “˜Swissness’ is particularly important to Zürich Airport, therefore the premium Swiss chocolate pralines created by the Master Chocolatiers in Zürich represent the perfect fit for the location.”

According to a study conducted by travel retail statistics specialist Generation Research, confectionery purchases at Zürich Airport are planned. It also found that 60% of purchases are for gifting, which, according to Lindt, makes the airport “particularly appropriate for the launch of a premium range that is well-suited for gifting”.

Lindt & Sprüngli Head of Global Duty Free Peter Zehnder commented: “It is fitting, and an enormous honour, that we will be pre-launching this exciting new range in Zürich. The city is the birthplace of Lindt, which was founded in 1845 as a small confectionery shop in Zürich’s Old Town. The Lindt factory was later built in Kilchberg on Lake Zürich and we still make our famous chocolates there today. These products reflect Lindt’s longstanding heritage and the 170 years of passion and outstanding craftsmanship that have gone into making these special chocolates.”

The pre-launch at Zürich will be followed with a major launch initiative at Dubai Duty Free. Running across all concourses from 15 to 31 March, the campaign will allow both transit and departure passengers the opportunity to sample the new range and witness Lindt Master Chocolatiers making the Dôme de Noisette.

Dubai Duty Free Vice President Purchasing Saba Tahir said: “We are excited at the prospect of the new product launch across our retail operation and like the sense of theatre that will be introduced around the launch. We know that Lindt is a firm favourite with our customers, so they will enjoy it.”

Zehnder added: “Lindt has been the number one confectionery brand for ten consecutive years at Dubai Duty Free, and therefore the airport is the perfect partner for this important and prestigious roll out.”

The full Swiss Masterpieces range comprises assorted pralines in 145g, 220g and 440g boxes as well as a 250g ballotin. There are also two dark collections in a 145g box and a 250g ballotin.
