UK. An impressive new gin launch in travel retail was unveiled in London last week.
Miami-based Imagination Unlimited International (IUI) has taken on the global exclusive duty free distribution for Martin Miller’s London Dry Gin. The brand is owned by UK-based Reformed Spirits Company, which enjoyed a big success with Polstar vodka, later sold to William Grant & Sons.
The premium spirit is batch distilled, like malt whisky. After distillation, it is transported by ship, in drums, to Iceland’s Selyrl spring where it is blended with the pure local water. The result is a very soft gin, with clarity of taste and appearance.
Miller’s London Gin is packaged in a distinctively styled bottle embossed with a map depicting the Atlantic journey between England and Iceland.
Imagination owner Lars Johansson said he had high hopes for Miller’s, which has already gained a strong following in the UK and in parts of the US bar and off-trade. A high-strength version is being developed as a duty free exclusive as well as the standard 40% reference.
A gift box is about to be finalised that will give Miller’s a startling on-shelf presence.
The recommended duty free price for the 75cl is US$22 and for the 100cl US$29.
