‘Live the Track’: Lego teams up with Ducati

The Lego Group has partnered with Ducati to launch its latest Lego Technic model, the ‘Ducati Panigale V4 R’. It will be available in stores worldwide on 1 June.

The new model is a replica of the stylish Italian superbike; combining Lego Technic fabrication with the sleek curves and aerodynamic design of Ducati’s motorcycle.

The Ducati Panigale V4 R features a fully-functioning two-speed gearbox that ‘activates’ a V4-cylinder engine, allowing players to drive the bike in two different speeds. It is the first motorcycle model in the Lego Technic range to feature this innovation.

Other noteworthy details include realistic steering and suspension, front and rear disc brakes, exhaust pipe, windshield, and dashboard. The Lego model also mimics the motorcycle’s rear and front suspension and features a kickstand so builders can ‘park’ their Ducati superbike in style.

“The Ducati Panigale V4 R is such an elegant Italian icon and a true technological masterpiece,” said Lego Technic Senior Designer Aurélien Rouffiange. “It was essential that I included as many authentic details from the real motorbike as I could when designing the new Lego Technic version, ensuring I captured all of the bike’s curves and the unique features.”

Rouffiange added, “Just as Ducati continually pushes boundaries in its design, we demonstrated what the Lego Technic range is capable of by engineering a fully functioning motorcycle gearbox for the first time and connecting it to the spinning V4 cylinder engine using existing pieces.”

A dream come true: According to Ducati Licensing Director Alessandro Cicognani, the company’s partnership with the Lego Group is one built on shared values of ‘dedication, passion, and attention to detail’

Ducati Licensing Director Alessandro Cicognani commented, “We have all been kids passionate about Lego bricks. I think it is easy to understand that this new licensing agreement between Ducati and the Lego Group is like a dream come true. We are two brands that share the same values of dedication, passion and attention to detail – values that have come together to give life to a unique building experience.”

He added, “Our hope is that the Ducati Panigale V4 R Lego Technic can bring together, excite and entertain not only children and parents, but also all the fans who ride their motorcycles every day.”
