FRANCE. Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) has announced the appointment of Lloyd Simmonds as International Make-Up Artist. He is charged with bringing “a whole new dimension to the creation and expression of make-up” at YSL. His first creations for the brand will be available in 2011.

Simmonds first made a name for himself in the world of theatre and ballet. YSL describes him as one of the most creative and sensitive international make-up artists on the scene today, and also one of the most visionary.
He has worked with some of the world’s most prominent international magazine titles, including Vogue, Numéro, Harper’s Bazaar, Citizen K, Amica and Flair, as well as The New York Times.
Simmonds has also collaborated on catwalk looks for Yves Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney, Gucci, Lanvin, Dior Couture and Ready-to-wear, Valentino Couture and Ready-to-wear, Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Comme des Garçons and Yohji Yamamoto, among others.
At YSL, Simmonds will create new make-up colours and help develop new products, collections, textures and applications. Working with the development and laboratory teams, he will establish the new Yves Saint Laurent style of make-up. He will also create the make-up for advertising visuals.
