ARGENTINA. London Supply is planning to double the commercial space at Ushuaia International Airport with a resultant enlargement of the company’s duty free shop there.
Commercial Director Francisco Heredia Lafuente told The Moodie Report that the company is also investing in a tripling ot the space at Calafate Airport in the south of the country. “This is the result of the incredible passenger growth that the airport is experiencing due to a major tourist attraction of our country, the Glaciar Perito Moreno.”
He said the company is considering introducing a duty free shop although the limited number of international flights makes this questionable. London Supply plans an investment of around US$12.9 million at Calafate.
The company will provide the equipment for the upgrade of the airport, which includes the expansion of the passenger terminal, the construction of a police station and parking space.
London Supply, established in 1942, also operates the airports at Trelew and Ushuaia, as well as Punta del Este in Uruguay and a downtown duty free operation in the special economic zone of Iguazú. The Iguazú operation is currently being revamped with different category sections adopting special theming.
