L’Oréal Paris signs up Eva Longoria – 06/04/05

US. L’Oréal Paris has signed an exclusive worldwide contract with actress Eva Longoria to promote the company and its brands. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Longoria shot to fame playing former model Gabrielle Solis on the ABC hit series “Desperate Housewives”.

Her first L’Oréal commercial, for VIVE hair care, will air later this spring.

“I’ve always been the ugly duckling in my family,” commented Longoria, “so now to have L’Oréal select me as a spokesperson is a wonderful honour. L’Oréal is one of the few companies that really reflect my values. Their company philosophy and their legendary phrase, “Because I’m Worth It,” go hand-in-hand with who I am as a person.

“It’s exciting to be a part of such a diverse group of spokespeople, from all-American Heather Locklear to African-American Beyoncé, and now me, a Latina. This is it, the best, the culmination of an amazing year.”

“Eva is beautiful but it’s her energy, heart and spirit that truly reflect the values of [the company],” added L’Oréal Paris President and General Manager Carol Hamilton.

Longoria is the youngest of four sisters who grew up on a ranch in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her acting CV includes roles on daytime dramas such as “The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital”.

Voted by Variety as one of the “Ten New Faces of Fall,” Longoria has just completed the indie film “Harsh Times,” alongside Christian Bale and Freddie Rodriguez.

She was also recently cast in “The Sentinal,” opposite Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland and Kim Basinger.
