Offering an “innovative twist on tradition”: the new Ralph Lauren Polo Modern Reserve |
FRANCE. L’Oréal Produits de Luxe International is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its original Ralph Lauren Polo for Men fragrance, with a new version called Polo Modern Reserve. It is being launched in European travel retail this month, and will roll out to Asia and the Americas in March.
This latest scent celebrates Polo’s heritage of quality and sophistication, while offering an innovative twist on tradition, according to L’Oréal.
Much like a special vintage, Polo Modern Reserve is a unique blend, the company claims, crafted in the spirit of the original scent using unconventional ingredients of the highest quality.
Carlos Benaim, who created the original Polo juice, is the nose. The fragrance opens on notes of cardamom CO2, fresh-cut basil and pimento berry, building to a heart of vetiver-leather, liquid jasmine and precious myrrh incense. The base notes, described as rugged, include humidor wood, patchouli and suede leather.
Inspired by a classic gentleman’s flask, the Polo Modern Reserve flacon comprises the distinctive green glass of the original, adorned with a gold-coloured polo pony and matching gold cap. The outer carton is black and gold.
In addition to the 4oz edt spray (priced domestically at around US$62.50), is an 8oz Deluxe Limited Edition edt spray. This is priced at US$200, and is not available in travel retail.
The flacon sports 24k gold accents, and is presented in a commemorative leather box with an engraved gold plaque on the exterior. Just 3,500 pieces will be available worldwide.
