Lotte Duty Free announces duty free industry first with ISO27017 certification

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has has acquired an ISO27017 cloud service information protection management system certification, in what the retailer said is an industry first for duty free.

The certification is an international standard related to information protection. It can only be obtained when an information security management system is built and operated in accordance with strict global guidelines for the cloud service environment.

To celebrate the achievement a certification award ceremony was held at the Lotte Duty Free headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul on 12 October.

The event was attended by (left to right) Lotte Duty Free Head of Information Protection Division Ho-yong Lee; Lotte Duty Free CEO Kap Lee; Tom Helm, Secretary of the British Embassy in South Korea; Michael Lam Director of Asia Pacific at British Standards Institute (BSI) Group; and Seong-hwan Lim CEO of BSI Group Korea

Kap Lee said: “By acquiring the ISO27017 certification Lotte Duty Free has been recognised once again for maintaining an information protection management system that meets global standards.”

The certification which went through a screening process by the British Standards Institute (BSI) will be valid for three years.
