Lotte Duty Free boosts customer engagement with online rewards initiative

SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is boosting its digital communication and engagement with customers through the launch of a new rewards initiative named ‘Challenge’. The travel retailer has also relaunched its upgraded ‘Trip Talk’ platform, through which its online community can share travel tips and experiences.

Challenge allows customers to review items they have bought through the travel retailer, featuring the means to upload text, photos, and videos, and also tag and post products sold by Lotte Duty Free online.

Each month, the travel retailer will present ‘Challenge Keyword of the Month’. From participants, the three challengers “who best expressed the theme” will be selected – they will be presented with a ‘candy’ reward that can be exchanged for points on the Lotte Online Duty Free platform (1,000 candies = US$1 points). The first competition of this nature features two keywords, ‘#Mirror Shot Challenge’ and ‘#Padding Challenge’.

Meanwhile, TripTalk from Lotte Online Duty Free has restarted this month with upgraded features. The basic premise of TripTalk is for Lotte’s online community to share travel tips and exchange travel information.

The travel retailer explained that customers can ask questions about their travel destinations and freely talk about their experiences and know-how using ‘talk rooms’ organised according to their interests such as location, budget and inclination.

Through the Challenge and Trip Talk platforms, a small amount of candy is given automatically to participants sharing a post with videos and photos, clicking ‘like’ or writing a comment.

Up to 2,860 candies can be earned each day by customers using both the Challenge and Trip Talk platforms. The two services can be easily accessed from the main screen of the Lotte Online Duty Free mobile application.

Lotte Duty Free also said it plans to increase customer engagement by holding a candy gift event for customers who use Challenge and Trip Talk.

Lotte Duty Free Head of Platform Planning Team Anna Yoon said: “At a time when domestic demand for overseas travel is rapidly recovering, we have launched a series of services to strengthen customer communication. We will develop it into a platform that can be shared.”
