SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has introduced new uniforms for staff at its Korean stores from today, 17 October. They are inspired by Korean hanbok dress, with design elements from the retailer’s new visual identity, launched last year. The company created eight styles that can be worn according to gender, role and season.
The company said it had “reinterpreted hanbok and applied it to the uniform design to inform foreign customers of the traditional beauty of Korea”.
Lotte Duty Free partnered with designer Ayoung Kim, a prize winner at the 2021 Korea Fashion Awards. She is well known for her own brand, Cahiers.
Because the uniforms must be worn for a long time, they use fabrics that are more elastic and have less wrinkle than existing uniforms.
Elements of hanbok style were used on the collar and sleeves, blended with the visual identity pattern of Lotte Duty Free. The retailer said it tested the new uniform styles with employees across its network before their introduction.
Lotte Duty Free Marketing Division Head Lee Sang-jin said: “We are welcoming customers with a new uniform that embodies the visual identity of Lotte Duty Free and the beauty of Korean tradition.”
