SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is bringing some of K-Pop’s biggest stars to its 31st Family Concert, due to be held on 16 May.
Stars due to appear include Super Junior-D&E, BTS, Twice, Izi, Tomorrow x Together (TXT) and others. South Korean rapper, singer, dancer, MC, and radio star Shindong will host the concert.
This year the event is dedicated to comforting people around the world in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic while also underlining Lotte Duty Free’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) mission.
Today the retailer today released a teaser video (below) for the event in multiple languages via its official SNS channels. As with last year’s concert, the 2021 edition will be held virtually.
This year’s concert will appear in six languages – Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese – and will deploy ‘Meta-verse Entertech’ using the latest AR (Augmented Reality) & XR (Extended Reality) in collaboration with South Korean entertainment and mass media company CJ ENM.
Through this technology, the Family Concert will provide an enhanced experience and offer viewers the feeling of being at a live event rather than a virtual one, Lotte Duty Free pledged.
Any Lotte Duty Free customer can watch the Family Concert. After signing up or logging into Lotte Internet Duty Free, the user enters their email in the event page to complete the application.
This year’s concert will be broadcast via TikTok.
In commemoration of the performance, a customer participation promotion has also been prepared. Attendees can capture a ‘virtual ticket’ image of individual artists on Lotte Duty Free’s official SNS and upload it with required hashtags (#Familyconcert, #Duty4Earth, #LotteDutyFree) specified on Instagram and Twitter. An eco-friendly upcycling film camera will be presented to 100 customers through a prize draw.
Lotte Duty Free CEO Lee Gap said, “We prepared the 31st Family Concert based on a desire to see the recovery from COVID-19 and to emphasise the will of Lotte Duty Free for eco-friendly management. This performance representing K-Culture will provide a healing occasion for customers around the world. I look forward to it.”
The Lotte Duty Free Family Concert started in 2006 and has become an event representing K-Culture that both Koreans and foreigners can enjoy every year.
The 30th Lotte Duty Free Family Concert, held in September 2020, attracted a maximum number of 550,000 simultaneous users and 2.2 million views, and further attracted 900,000 new Lotte Internet Duty Free customers.
