SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free’s official website was awarded the Grand Prize in both the mobile web category and the PC web sector at Web Awards Korea 2021, organised by the Korea Internet Professional Association.
Web Awards Korea, now in its 18th year, is the Republic of Korea’s most prestigious web evaluation awards programme. Over 4,000 internet professionals select the most innovative and excellent websites each year.
At the awards ceremony yesterday (29 December), Lotte Duty Free’s website received the ‘Best Grand Prize’ by gaining the best evaluation among 437 candidate sites in the mobile web category. It also won the Grand Prize in the Large Corporations class for the PC web category.

Lotte Duty Free revamped its website in September to focus on the company’s sustainable management activities externally and to strengthen customer communication. A major feature of the new look is that information accessibility and readability are enhanced by using images rather than text to strengthen consumer communication.
Lotte Duty Free has created an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) page on its website to inform the public of the company’s ESG activities and implementation status. Content is particularly targeted at Korea’s MZ generation (a pairing of two groups, Millennial born 1981-1985 and Generation Z, born 1996-2005).
Lotte Duty Free Marketing Department Head Lee Sang-jin said, “It is rewarding that our efforts to narrow the distance with Lotte Duty Free customers around the world are recognised.”
Success upon success
Lotte Duty Free was also a big winner at the recent Moodies Travel Journey Digital Awards, travel retail’s leading social and digital commerce and communications awards.

In another success, Lotte Duty Free was the downtown duty free winner (with LuxeMall & LuxeMall Live) in the Best E/M Commerce category, which recognises the most effective use of ecommerce and mobile to achieve a specific marketing outcome.
Lotte Duty Free again came out on top in the Best Use of Digital to an Internal Audience/Employee Engagement with its 30th Family Concert (held online due to the pandemic).
The retailer’s Smart Store also picked up a Moodies Award for Best Creativity and Innovation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
