SWITZERLAND/GERMANY. Lufthansa WorldShop is taking over the handling of onboard duty free sales for Swiss International Airlines (SWISS) with immediate effect.
The wholly-owned Lufthansa subsidiary announced today that it will be responsible for the choice and procurement of goods, logistics management, and publicity regarding the duty free programme in the aircraft cabin and on the ground.
It added that the range of products on offer will be expanded and “further adapted to specific customer requirements”, and within the next few months passengers will be able to pay for items using their Miles & More mileage points. Further attractive innovations for customers are planned.
Lufthansa WorldShop has been responsible for Lufthansa’s end-customer trading since 2003. Its activities encompass inflight sales; a mail order business with a wide choice of top-label travel, holiday, sports and lifestyle articles; and retail stores at Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin Tegel airports, as well as another outlet in Bielefeld.
The SWISS onboard duty free programme had been run since April 2004 by French concessionaire Aeroboutique Inflight Retail, part of the Aelia group. SWISS has been part of the Lufthansa group since the merger that was announced in 2005.
