As revealed today via The Moodie Report Twitter feed, MAC Cosmetics has confirmed that the brand will introduce a limited-edition colour collection in summer 2014, inspired by Disney’s Maleficent film, which stars Angelina Jolie.
It is not the first time the companies have joined forces to celebrate the darkly glamourous side of consumers. In 2010 MAC and Disney delivered up the Venomous Villains line, which featured four mini-collections themed around One Hundred and One Dalmatians’ Cruella de Vil, Snow White’s Evil Queen, Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent and The Princess and the Frog’s Dr Facilier.
At the time James Gager (now MAC Cosmetics Senior Vice President/Group Creative Director) commented: “Everybody loves a villain and wants to take a bite of forbidden fruit from time to time. It’s great to be sweet and lovely and kind, of course, but it’s more interesting to be a little naughty, isn’t it?
“Disney has always created iconic ingénues, but their counterparts, the villains, are just as memorable. I’m sure every woman in the world has a little villain in her somewhere, whether she wants to admit it or not!”
