SWEDEN. Swedish agency Macis Promotions is investing in staff training and development in its commitment to improve service quality in the airport sector.
In line with this aim, the company – the official Swedish representative of the Airport Promotion Agencies (APA) association – has become a member of the Nordic Travel Retail Group (NTRG). Membership of the NTRG further helps to encourage innovation and development in promotional practices to benefit brand airport activity performance.

In its Perfume & Cosmetics division, Macis has invested in professional skincare sales training, improving brand ambassador knowledge and helping staff to achieve better sales targets.
Beauty Advisors in The Body Shop have also received training in hand massage techniques. This will allow staff to deliver “sales through service”, and offer travellers hand massage therapy in-store, the company said.
Earlier this year, Macis launched the Essie-branded “˜USA’s Nail Salon Expert’ at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. This type of salon-style activation was hailed as a first for the airport, organised by Macis Promotions. The agency provided the beauty experts who were on hand to offer beauty advice and express nail manicure services to airport travellers.
Macis now also offers its clients the ability to effectively target Russian passengers thanks to the new team of Russian-speaking promotional staff. Russian speakers have been integrated into promotional teams at selected airports, and the increased language skills have already proved popular with native travellers, Macis said, supported by “encouraging sales results” among Russian passengers.
Commenting on Macis Promotions’ long term commitment to developing its offering for clients, company owner Maria Cisternas said: “It’s been a hectic few months for us but our focus is always on improving the service we offer our clients, and our membership of both the APA and NTRG clearly demonstrates our commitment to working to the highest standards within our sector.
“On top of this, adding Russian speakers to our roster of staff is essential if we are to help our clients capitalise on what is now one of the highest spending groups in the travel retail sector.”
