Fred Creighton commented: “We are extremely proud of the valued and longstanding partnership we have with the Manchester Airports Group and are delighted to join them to officially open this striking new store. It conveys such a strong Sense of Place and really reflects the great spirit and culture of Manchester. Feedback on the store has been extremely positive and we look forward to continuing to deliver a first-class shopping experience to every customer that visits Manchester’s new Terminal 2.”

Stephen Turner added: “We are really pleased to see this new World Duty Free store officially opened. It is central to the offering in Terminal 2 and adds an extra dimension to the world-class passenger experience we aim to deliver in this flagship facility. It is fantastic to see the unique character of the region reflected in the store’s offering as well.”

“Informative and accessible” – how Dufry described the environment and experience at World of Whiskies at Manchester T2

The store, which started trading in Q3 2021 as flights moved to the new Terminal 2 extension, is located in the international departures hall just after security.

Incorporating the core product categories of beauty, liquor, luxury accessories, tobacco and confectionery, it also features a dedicated World of Whiskies area. Dufry said the store has been “well received” by customers, “delivering a good performance over the past months despite ongoing changes to travel restrictions”.

Alongside the main duty free store World Duty Free also operates a 129sq m Express store, a 231sq m Beauty Collection store and a 230sq m Collection store.

The Design Solution was the retailer’s design partner for the project, with JPLD the lighting design consultant.
