Mandarin Oriental Sanya partners with CDFG to promote duty free

CHINA. In celebration of the new regulations that allow Chinese visitors to Hainan Island to shop duty free, Mandarin Oriental Sanya hotel has launched a “˜Spend & Save’ promotion in partnership with leading Hainan retailer China Duty Free Group (CDFG).

Along with rebates from the CDFG store, the resort invites guests to double their savings with a complimentary credit of CNY1,500 (US$230) to spend at their restaurants, bars or spa.

The island’s new duty free policy was launched on 20 April 2011 and applies to international tourists as well as those from mainland China. Customers shopping at the Sanya Duty Free Store can enjoy savings of up to -30% on luxury goods priced below CNY 5,000 (US$770).

The hotel company said: “China is expected to become the world’s largest luxury goods market by 2014, and because of these new regulations, Hainan, which already boasts sun, sea and sand, will be a new hub for luxury shopping.”

CDFG’s Sanya store is a ten-minute drive from Mandarin Oriental, Sanya. Guests staying at the resort during this promotion period can enjoy a complimentary shuttle service to and from the store at designated times during the day.
