Italian eyewear specialist Marcolin displayed its Spring/Summer 2013 sunglasses collections for travel retailers at the TFWA World Exhibition in October 2012.
The licensed brands on show included Swarovski, Tom Ford Eyewear, Roberto Cavalli Eyewear and Just Cavalli Eyewear, among other leading luxury fashion brands.
SWAROVSKI
Swarovski and Marcolin offer what they describe as a creative, sophisticated collection of sunglasses for Spring/Summer 2013.
Nathalie Colin, Creative Director at Swarovski said: “My wish for this season was to combine the optimistic colors of the Tropical Paradise jewellery collection with the inspiration of the sunwear collection. This season is marked by extravagance and audacity, with highly decorative frames, splashed with colour, and enriched by the glamour of gold.”
Basic models appear alongside bolder designs, with a distinct Swarovski look. The collection reveals several signature elements of Swarovski’s identity on the arms, frames and lenses.
For the first time, the exclusive Pointiage technique adorns certain pieces in the 12-line collection with subtle gradations. The collection features faceting, synonymous with Swarovski, the delicate Swanflower motif and crystal.
Described as easy to wear and easy to match, the models are available in a variety of shapes to fit the shape of your face. Elegant and feminine, the Ciara model plays on volume and rounded lines, while Cutie is simple and modern with its slender metal frame adorned with pastel crystals.
The Chance line reinterprets the aviator shape with a geometric aesthetic that features Swarovki’s distinct faceting technique, while the Cleo model, with a more rectangular design and greater coverage, uses baguette-cut crystals to adorn the arms. Dubbed bold and full of character, Capri presents a square frame, entirely faceted and decorated with Crystal Rocks, which is described as an exclusive material with a graphic, mineral look. Adding colour, the Cosmopolitan line shines in vibrant fuchsia, set off by fine arms featuring the chain design.
Among the bolder frames, Charlie and Carma stand out for their sophistication. Large in size and coverage, these models combine facets and crystals applied by hand using the Pointiage technique, with bold arms to provide a hint of glamour. Coquette has the feel of jewellery, with its lenses surrounded by pavé crystals. The Chic style offers perfect harmony between classic forms and the skilful use of crystal.

TOM FORD EYEWEAR
For Spring/Summer 2013, Tom Ford presents striking frames that are evolutions of his best-selling eyewear designs. Crafted from fine materials and featuring distinctive fabrications, the new collection spans 22 new sunglass frames for women and men.
There are 14 new sunglass designs for women including the Grant (model number 267), a rounded, mask-like design that takes inspiration from 1960s ski goggles. A distinctive bat-wing frame is offered in two versions: the exaggerated Bardot (284), and the subtler shape of the Lana (280). The season’s bold new eyewear direction is seen in the Nastasya (304), a metal cat-eye frame made of shiny palladium or shiny rose gold.
The injected cat-eye, Anastasia (303), is offered in six shades including shiny orange, violet and blue. The vintage-inspired Christophe (279) is offered in nine shades that include brown with a violet, grey or rose base.
Three frames deliver a new twist on Tom Ford’s most popular women’s sunglass styles. The Francoise (272) is a larger and more rounded version of the Whitney design. The Jade (277) revisits the Tom Ford criss-cross front in a lightweight frame with metal rims around the lenses and the Vivienne (278) updates the Jennifer frame in rich acetate.
Modern designs with vintage inspirations complete the women’s sunglass line-up. The Alicia (275) and Candice (276) reinvent the soft sophistication of a rounded, 1950s silhouette, while the Cori (282) and Faye (281) combine plastic frames with sleek metal bridges.
The Cole (285) is an elegant and easy-to-wear unisex update of the aviator shape, the company said. A striking combination of injected rims, metal temples and a unique metal bridge gives the Robbie (286) its distinctive look. The style comes with two sets of lenses; one mounted and one enclosed.
The metal-front Tate (287) has a sexy edge while the Callum (289) and Lennon (288) are masculine shapes with a vintage feel. The rounded Rock (290) evokes a timeless look with its plastic front and metal bridge and the richly coloured Flynn frame (291) showcases Tom Ford’s distinctive take on retro style with its slightly peaked bridge.

ROBERTO CAVALLI EYEWEAR
Roberto Cavalli Eyewear’s collection for Spring/Summer 2013-14 celebrates the brand’s well-known icons and sophisticated details. The new sunglasses frames are said to blend clever craftsmanship and distinctive design.
Strong lines and cleverly used animal prints appear on frames and temples for the mask-shaped model in metal and acetate (model number RC720). The RC heraldic monogram decorates the start of the temples for a style that is feminine and bold.
Generous shapes and sinuous outlines appear on acetate sunglasses with rounded (RC734) or elongated (RC727) lines. Python or spotted animal prints decorate frames and temples of these glamorous models.
The butterfly-shaped acetate frame (RC731) with sinuous lines and slender temples bear the metal logo, which is said to underline Roberto Cavalli style interpreted with restrained elegance.
1980s inspiration and contemporary geometrics characterise the acetate style (RC738), square in outline with geometric volumes. Contrasting prints on the frames emphasise its vintage inspiration. Alternating strict proportions with sinuous lines, the metal model (RC722) has a snake design uniting the frames and temples.
With a contemporary allure, the cat-eye sunglasses (RC736) have a generously feminine shape. Their silhouette, defined by animal-inspired touches, is emphasised by the elegant double temples, intertwined and decorated with rhinestones.
Jewellery-inspired, aviator metal and acetate sunglasses, inspired by vintage, are reworked with contemporary elements, such as the metal chain that frames the lenses, tracing the line of the bridge (RC721).
The engraved metal temples, inspired by precious chains, recall the world of Florentine jewellery and frame the generous acetate front with its ample, sophisticated shape (RC741).
Between 1960s appeal and contemporary glamour, oversize injection-moulded sunglasses incorporate deluxe decoration, including the logo in gilt metal and surfaces engraved like fine jewellery workmanship (RC728).

JUST CAVALLI EYEWEAR
The new Just Cavalli Eyewear collection for Spring/Summer 13-14 celebrates the contemporary spirit of the brand with new sunglasses that have a “feisty attitude”, the company said. The fun details and sparkling shapes of the new models reflect the brand’s signature appeal.
A young, fun style inspires the rounded acetate woman’s model JC489. Its fun spirit is underlined by details, such as the cleverly blended colour-matching on frame and temples.
Strong lines characterise the casual-look frame in acetate JC496. A touch of glamour comes from the rhinestone-decorated logo on the temples.
The JC500 model, in a large and square shape, has a vintage flavour combined with the brand’s modern, fashionable spirit. The mirror lenses come to life revealing animal prints, making each model distinctive and high fashion.
Model JC491 has a modern square silhouette and camouflage patterns on the acetate in various colour combinations. Touches of neon colour light up model JC492, brightening the animal pattern of the frame.
The cats’-eye shape of acetate model JC499 is inspired by the 1950s. Its vintage charm is enhanced by animal prints shading down from the top of the frame, for a glamorous look. The 3D-effect logo on the temples seeks to strike a contemporary note.
Surprising volumes and carved profiles appear on the feminine mask frame in acetate and metal JC504. The frame, repeated at the top of the glasses, highlights the animal motif.
Men’s model JC506 reflects the brand’s versatile personality. It is designed to harmonise the strong outline of frame and temples, double bridge and neon inserts that define the outline.
Vintage spirit interpreted urban-style is seen on the unisex metal aviator sunglasses JC508. The frame has a geometric pattern in the centre that redesigns the volumes.
