MarketPlace Development announces new promotions and roles

MarketPlace Development has announced several promotions following its gain of new contracts with Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and the extension of its contract with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

The Massachusetts-based company manages the concessions programme at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport, and develops and manages the concessions at LaGuardia Airport – Terminal B.

Michael DiCosola has been made a partner and Executive Vice President of MarketPlace Development in recognition of his increased responsibility for the merchandising and leasing at Philadelphia International Airport, Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Washington Dulles International Airport, and LaGuardia Airport, and for new business development. DiCosola has been with MarketPlace since 2001 and has been intricately involved with the development, leasing and success of all of the company’s projects, the company said.

Clarence LeJeune, who has been with MarketPlace for over 15 years, has been named Regional Vice President. In this new role, the General Managers of MarketPlace Development projects at Philadelphia International, Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport report to him.

He has retained the position of President of MarketPlace Philadelphia Management, MarketPlace’s management company for Philadelphia International Airport. LeJeune has been with MarketPlace since 1998 and has successfully led the Philadelphia International Airport concessions development and management project since the opening of the BC Connector/Philadelphia Marketplace that year.

Mel Hannah has been promoted to Vice President/General Manager of MarketPlace Philadelphia Management. In this position, he is responsible for managing the development and management of Philadelphia International Airport’s concessions programme, which now includes 183,000sq ft concessions throughout Terminals A through F and features more than 175 in-line stores, restaurants, and services, plus almost 40 specialty retail units.

Hannah has been with MarketPlace for over 15 years, most recently as Manager of Retail Operations at Philadelphia International Airport.

In addition, MarketPlace has grown its senior management staff with the addition of Kathy Viola, General Manager at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport; Kierran Casey, General Manager at Washington Dulles International Airport; and Susan Drury, Leasing Manager for both Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

They join Lillian Tan, Vice President and General Manager at LaGuardia Airport, together with Mel Hannah at Philadelphia International Airport, in leading their teams in working with airports and tenants to enhance passenger satisfaction and to optimise retailer performance and revenue.

In other staff news, MarketPlace has hired Victoria Anastasia as their new Financial/Industry Analyst. She joined MarketPlace from their affiliated company, New England Development, where she has worked since 2006. Anastasia recently completed a Masters of Science in Finance from Brandeis University – International Business School.
