ITALY. Leading motorsport sponsor Martini Racing returns to Formula One in 2006 as official partner to Formula One World Championship team Scuderia Ferrari, with a racy sponsorship at Milan Malpensa Airport.

The sponsorship includes an installation of a replica of the F1 race car at Milan’s Malpensa Airport.

Bacardi Global Travel Retail Managing Director Maurice Doyle commented: “Ferrari and Martini are iconic Italian brands that are known the world over so this partnership seems like a perfect fit. We are also thrilled to partner with Malpensa to welcome F1 fans this September,” he added.

The Martini Ferrari installation can be viewed in the Arrivals hall of Milan Malpensa Airport from 4 September to 9 September. Travellers will have the opportunity to see the life-size racing car up close, as they arrive for the Italian Grand Prix. They can also view replays of the Martini World Circuit races.

The Martini Ferrari will then move from Arrivals to the Departures hall of Malpensa Airport from 10 September to 15 September, where hostesses will be on hand to present travellers with vouchers to redeem in duty free stores for Martini Ferrari double-sided posters (in travel tubes) and DVDs of the Martini World Circuit.

Tasting opportunities will be available in-store and a limited edition Martini Racing book will be offered as a gwp with two bottles of Martini.

The Martini Ferrari partnership has also developed an ad campaign of 25 double sided anti-drink and drive banners throughout Malpensa Airport.

Doyle commented, “Discouraging drinking and driving is of the utmost importance for us. Our partnership allows us to communicate a strong message, which will form the basis of a pan-European anti-drink and drive campaign that will be implemented during this year’s F1 season.”

According to the company, similar activities are being planned for other European airports in 2007.
