MCM’s Autumn/Winter 2012 bag collection highlights a leopard print theme in a comprehensive range of shapes, sizes and practical accessories.
Big, functional bags with all-round zip-tops are introduced, while the successful Shopper project is extended with fresh designs.
Autumnal colours of orange, red, blue, green and dark brown dominate in leather, signature Visetos material and combination lines, highlighted with an on-trend leopard print theme designed to create interest.
Additionally, new lines target male travellers, and there are many small leathergoods designed for both genders, including passport holder, wallets and iPhone case.
MCM’s Heritage line, made from its signature Cognac Visetos, is a best-seller, in both classic and on-trend shapes. This season sees the range extended with many new shapes – some returning to the brand’s roots such as pillbox-shaped hard luggage, barrel weekenders, jewellery and vanity cases; others designed for travelling businesswomen such as backpack, trolley bag, travel wallet and flat cosmetics purses.
A wide range of handbag shapes is offered, with sizes ranging from cute mini cross-body, drawstring and satchel to medium tambourine to large shoulder and reversible shopper.
Complete with a new, stylish MCM leather tag, the Heritage line combines nostalgic pieces, practical travel accessories and fashionable shapes. Travel retail prices start from €675 for a barrel weekender, €420 for a medium messenger, €300 for a small cross-body.

Animal print trend
Animal print is one of the strongest elements for Autumn/Winter 2012 and MCM has introduced a fun leopard theme that threads through different lines, combining it with Visetos material for cross-merchandising in-store.
Funk Rock Luxury is described as a funky look, combining signature Visetos together with gold or metal studs. This bold line, in Cognac or black colours, aims to add edginess to any fashion look and is expected to be a strong seller for 2012/13.
Shapes include shopper, Boston, clutch and drawstring along with various flap and zipped wallets in different sizes. Travel retail prices start from €895 for a medium drawstring, €725 for a large shopper and €215 for a small zip wallet.
The Leo line uses bold, studded leopard print PVC with leather trim on a large shopper, supported with a range of travel accessories: camera bag, pouch, belt bag, name tag, iPhone case and bracelet. Leo prices start from €1,235 for a large draw shopper, €85 for a name tag.
The leopard look also appears in Little Veronika Visetos, where the Visetos material is combined with leather in strong colours of orange and green, available in a satchel, tote, shoulder or cross-body. Travel retail prices start from €505 for a medium satchel or cross mini, €130 for a smartphone case, €605 for a large tote.
Also new this season is Vintage Visetos, available as a hobo, shopper, cross mini and flap shoulder.

Best-selling First Lady line enriched
MCM’s signature line First Lady is enriched in terms of colour palette (orange, blue, taupe and black) and materials, plus new bigger, practical shapes and detailing.
The collection offers various choices from entry to prestigious level, appealing to a wide range of customers. Likely to be a big hit for 2012/13 is the First Lady Croco, available in croco-print leather and autumnal colours of honey, orange, green and black. Shapes include tote, Boston and satchel, plus zipped wallets.
Travel retail prices for First Lady Croco start from €590 for a large tote, €520 for a small Boston; and for First Lady €505 for a medium bowler, €520 for a medium shopper, €200 for a medium zip wallet.
Other popular lines, carried over from last season into Autumn/Winter 2012, include Ivana Patent in new colours of grey, red-orange, navy and taupe, and Nuovo L (previously Sophia) with updated shapes such as zipped totes. Orange, red, camel, navy and black are the season’s colours for this line which comes with a small leathergoods selection including zipped and flap wallets, card wallet and reversible belt.
The soft leather Mocha has contrasting body and trim colours for its satchels, cross-body wallet and flap wallets. The bags are available in plain, Lux Mesh and Lux Croco versions, in colour combinations such as blue/dark brown, khaki/orange/brown, dark orange/tan and olive/purple.
Small leathergoods and gifts
Small leathergoods line Visetos Round combines classic Cognac or dark brown Visetos material with contrasting coloured linings in red, orange, navy, camel or black, for a modern, trendy look. It includes a wide range of wallet sizes, plus card cases, key wallets and reversible belt. Travel retail prices start at €180 for a large wallet and €145 for a reversible belt.
The Mina small leathergoods line offers cross-body pouches, zipped wallets, coin and key cases in gold, red, wine, grey or pink leather. Travel retail prices start at €105 for a zip coin wallet and €300 for a cross-body medium pouch.
The gift collection comprises key charms, including popular carry-overs such as the mini bag and animal charms, with new animal additions based on winter sports such as bobsleigh and snowboarder rabbits, skiing dogs and skater and hockey bears. Travel retail prices start at €95 for the animal charms.

Expanded men’s range
For men, successful lines from last season such as Heritage, Stark and Urban Styler are extended and updated with fresh functional shapes and sizes, and new lines introduced including Munich, Vasco and Express Visetos.
Materials span the all-leather Munich and Urban Styler to PVC with leather trim for Vasco and Express Visetos.
Alongside classic items, modern shapes are introduced such as the EW bowler, NS tote and satchel backpack for Munich, and iPad case, smartphone case and shopper for Stark. Travel retail prices start at €555 for a Munich NS or EW tote and €165 for a zip wallet. Vasco prices start at €555 for a large messenger.
Stark comes in black as well as purple, brown and navy, while Urban Styler comes in grey, red, blue and dark brown as well as black. Travel retail prices start at €485 for an Urban Styler medium laptop case, €540 for a large briefcase; Stark prices from €495 for a medium backpack, €145 for a smartphone case.
Vasco is a stylish line featuring printed images of old-style travel labels and signs. The line includes messenger, backpack, briefcase and trolley, plus wallets and a pouch.

Strong visual brand identity
Described as a classic MCM design with a modern twist, Express Visetos has blue or red trim contrasting with the Visetos material, offering many different shapes and sizes and accompanying small leathergoods. Travel retail prices start at €435 for an EW double messenger, €370 for a small slim messenger, €200 for a travel pouch.
MCM Honshu Tantris, described by the brand as a “consistently a best-selling line loved by key celebrities worldwide”, returns this season. Minimalist in design, yet given high glamour with its bold silver studs, this black PVC line with leather trim has a strong visual brand identity.
Shapes include shoulder, weekender and backpack, along with a range of small leathergoods such as iPod case, document case, pouch, smartphone case, belt, bracelet and wallet. Travel retail prices start from €795 for a medium zipper backpack, €250 for an iPad case and €95 for a bracelet.
Other lines for Autumn/Winter include Veronika Isis, M Moment Rock and Nuovo Croco.
