German luxury brand MCM has refurbished its Ginza store in Tokyo, Japan, to present the brand’s largest flagship.
Fusing fashion and art, Ginza Haus 1 marks the brand’s first major opening in Japan and follows the launch of its first concept store in Berlin and first flagship on the US West Coast.
MCM said the 36.5m high, nine-storey landmark represents the brand’s vision for “unrivalled retailtainment and experiential design”.
MCM Global Creative Officer Dirk Schönberger said: “We wanted to design a retail platform which commemorates MCM’s heritage in innovation and commitment to the arts through a venue which enables visitors to experience and interact with the brand values across all senses.
“Through culture-driven retail programming, the Ginza Haus I becomes more than a store, and will deliver greater authenticity to the brand story whilst serving as one of MCM’s new fashion hubs for next generation creatives from Japan, and beyond.”
Schönberger said the flagship store “reaffirms MCM’s reputation for pioneering innovation in one of Asia’s most discerning luxury markets”.
The store’s exterior features granite grey marble, oversized LED panels with an illuminated MCM logo and video art. Its interior combines classic and contemporary references to highlight the brand’s collections and culture of innovation. Ginza Haus 1 also a café and gallery space. MCM said exclusive collections will be featured.
Last month’s grand opening, which featured Japanese model and songwriter Kōki, attracted local and international celebrities including American producer and rapper Lil Jon and Parisian influencer, Noonouri.
