MCM stages major Beijing media event – 08/09/09

MCM’s Autumn/Winter 09 collection was presented to Chinese fashion editors at its Peninsula Hotel store in Beijing


INTERNATIONAL. German luxury fashion house MCM has hosted a major VIP media presentation, dinner and trunk show at its store in the Peninsula Hotel, Beijing.

The event, held in August, previewed the brand’s Autumn/Winter 09 collection of handbags to mainland China’s key fashion editors.

Updating The Moodie Report on the brand’s ongoing resurgence, MCM Chairperson Sung-Joo Kim said that MCM’s annual sales are currently US$220 million, with US$280 million forecast for 2010, buoyed by continued double-digit growth in South Korea, the brand’s biggest market.

In other news, MCM has revamped two of its major points of sale in Korea operated by department store groups Shinsegae and Lotte.

Shinsegae Kangnam is one of the most luxurious and prestigious department stores in Seoul, which opened in 2000 with the aim of being a European-style department store. Today, it is home to many internationally renowned brands as it continues to strengthen its fashion merchandising. By constantly expanding its floor area, Shinsegae’s Gangnam store has become a leading department store in the city’s affluent Gangnam area.

Lotte Daegue is the most recent department store to open in Daegue City, which is one of the largest cities in Korea after Seoul and Pusan.

Lotte Daegue is well known for its upscale merchandising and high-profile customers. Located next to Daegue Station, it is a key store in terms of traffic.
