M&M’s brought to life in World Duty Free promotion at London airports

The giant M&M’s character will be roaming the World Duty Free stores at London Heathrow Terminal 3, Stansted and Gatwick South until 9 SeptemberMars International Travel Retail (ITR) has launched an M&M’s promotion in collaboration with World Duty Free Group (WDFG) and Blackjack Promotions at London Heathrow Terminal 3, Stansted and Gatwick South airports.

As part of the promotion, a giant chocolate M&M’s character will roam the World Duty Free stores at these airports for three days each week until 9 September. The costumed character – assisted by a team of Blackjack’s brand ambassadors – will hand out M&M’s samples and entertain kids and families.

WDFG is also offering a free gift with every purchase of three items from the M&M’s Maxi pouch range.

WDFG UK Food Team Buyer Donna Palmer said: “This promotion was timed to coincide with the school holidays and peak travel period for families. The M&M’s character has been received very positively by customers and really introduced an element of fun and excitement into the confectionery area. Sales have also been very encouraging, particularly on the M&M’s novelty lines such as the Candy Fan and Character Tin.”

Blackjack Promotions Account Manager James Louison commented: “The school summer holidays are one of the busiest times of year in UK airports and what better way to relieve a little bit of that travel stress with an experience for all the family to enjoy. Having a giant M&M’s character walking around and interacting with passengers throughout the store highlights the energy and fun that the M&M’s brand is known for and will hopefully lead to high levels of impulse purchase in-store throughout the promotional period.”
