USA. A modernised McDonald’s restaurant has opened for business in the arrivals level of Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Terminal 5.
The revamped eatery, one of eight McDonald’s sited in the airport, is the first of its kind at O’Hare. It brings convenience and technology to the forefront with the addition of new self-order kiosks, mobile order and payment, table service, charging stations and a fresh design.

The restaurant is 100% owned and operated by Chicago-based MYD Holdings, an Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) partner. With the upgraded offering, MYD has increased the number of seats at the fast food outlet to 60 and boosted the crew size by 35%.
McDonald’s Owner/Operator John De Carrier said: “McDonald’s is transforming and evolving its customer experience and we’re excited to share this new level of convenience with our Terminal 5 customers.”
Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee said: “This is an important location at O’Hare, where international travellers are first greeted by family and loved ones as they arrive in Chicago.
“We’re proud it’s a 100%, ACDBE-owned and operated restaurant that offers a full-service experience and first-rate customer service.”
The updated McDonald’s also offers the services of the chain’s mobile app pay feature, which allows customers to order and pay from their own device.
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports Vice President and Asset Lead Brian Petrow said: “Modern, convenient and efficient are the hallmarks of a great experience, and this new McDonald’s hits all three.
“We’re working with the CDA to continually evolve the experience and elevate the offerings at Terminal 5.”
