FRANCE. SSP has opened a Montreux Jazz Café at Paris Gare de Lyon, marking the brand’s debut in both the French market and in a station location.
The new café is located adjacent to Le Train Bleu restaurant, also operated by SSP. The kitchen team is headed by Philippe Deruelle, who worked under Le Train Bleu’s head chef Jean-Pierre Hoquet. It will feature three distinct sections: a restaurant, a lounge bar and a retail area.
Inspired by the music festival of the same name, the Montreux Jazz Café aims to offer diners good food in a relaxed environment, with live music and exclusive video and sound recordings from the festival. Its opening follows on from the success of the café in Geneva, Zurich and London.

SSP France, Belgium and Holland CEO Gérard d’ Onofrio said: “The Montreux Jazz Café is the innovative fusion of food and music – two elements that have always complemented each other. We’re delighted to be investing to bring this outstanding brand to Paris.”
Rachel Picard, Director General of station operator Gares & Connexions, added: “We believe that a train station should reflect the personality of the city it serves, not only in the design, but also in terms of the life-style and culture of its inhabitants. We’re certain that the Montreux Jazz Café will bring a welcome splash of vibrancy to our station.”
