INDIA. Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) has opened a new restaurant, called Aaswad, at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) Terminal 2.

According to MIAL, the Aaswad restaurant has the highest number of takeaway sales of all the restaurants at the airport

The outlet, located at Domestic Departures, offers cuisine from the Maharashtra region of India. Its menu comprises popular local dishes such as Misal Pav, a breakfast dish voted the ‘World’s Tastiest Vegetarian Dish’ at Foodie Hub Awards held in London.

MIAL said Aaswad boasts the highest number of takeaway sales of all the restaurants at the airport. Its popularity has prompted plans for a further outlet in International Departures.

The operator said it aims to highlight India and Mumbai’s socio-cultural features to those stepping into the airport. “Now, with the addition of Aaswad to its culinary section, Mumbai Airport has made the traditional Maharashtrian gastronomy that the city thrives on available to travellers,” MIAL stated.

The event, a tri-partite alliance between The Moodie Davitt Report, Airports Council International (ACI) and ACI Asia-Pacific, is hosted this year by GVK and Mumbai International Airport Limited.
