Munich Airport celebrates the festive season with its Winter Market

The 17th edition of Munich Airport’s Winter Market opens on 21 November. The market, in the Munich Airport Center (MAC) between the two terminals, offers passengers, visitors and staff shopping, seasonal food and drinks and an entertainment programme. The market includes 46 stands and centerpiece is a skating rink and adjacent ice surface for Bavaria’s version of curling.

Opening day entertainment includes music from the “˜forum2 Big Band’ and “˜Mr Zig Zag’. On 28 November visitors will be encouraged to make their own advent wreaths and St Nicholas Day (6 December) will be marked with presents for youngsters. Germany’s top figure skaters will perform on 19 December, followed by an evening of skating to live music. Children will be able to design wish lists four days ahead of Christmas Eve.

Munich Airport is also offering daily 50-minute twilight tours of the runways, fire stations, cargo terminal and maintenance hangars, departing from the MAC. Children’s tours will take place on Sunday afternoons. Tickets are available at the Winter Market.

The Winter Market and will be open daily from 11am until 9pm except on Christmas Eve (24 December), when all of the stands and the airport’s shops will close at 5pm. The market will close on 27 December.
