FIJI. Nadi International Airport has completed the latest phase of Airports Fiji Limited’s (AFL) terminal modernisation project, with commercial activities at its heart.
Among the companies and brands to open in upgraded spaces are Tappoo Duty Free, Prouds Duty Free, Burger King, Gloria Jeans, Westpac, Digicel, TTF, Rosie, Tour Managers and Pacific Destinations. They represent the first phase of the US$106 million Nadi Airport Modernisation Project (NATMP).
AFL also announced that the tenancies currently operating on the ground floor of the departures lounge will now close to allow construction works to proceed. Airline lounges located there will continue operations and be upgraded in stages.
AFL Executive Chairman Faiz Khan said: “We are calling the release of these tenancies a “˜significant step forward’ rather than a launch because the NATMP project has still got a little less than 50% of works pending to complete. We have a fair way to go.
“Building at an operational airport, NATMP was always planned to be delivered in stages. Nevertheless, these releases signify a significant milestone achieved.”
