Well-known and respected industry executive Nadine Heubel (right) has joined pre-owned luxury start-up Reklaim as Global SVP Revenue – Travel & Hospitality.
The company plans a big push into travel retail, with Heubel saying that pre-owned luxury can be the next US$1 billion category in travel retail.
The company was founded by serial entrepreneurs Kamran Razavi and Jamie Thomas who combine knowledge of data and technology with expertise in the pre-owned luxury market. Reklaim said it aims to “redefine the pre-owned category with an elevated experience titled ‘conscious luxury’.”
The company is rooted in a ‘technology-first’ approach, which the partners said is required to provide pre-owned at scale. Its vast catalogue spans 1.2 million handbags and 600,000 timepieces with merchandise value of around US$8.1 billion.
According to Bain & Company, the pre-owned luxury market was worth US$43 billion in 2022, up by +28% compared to 2021, or 1.3 times the growth rate of new luxury goods.
Heubel previously led North American operations for strategic retail consultancy Harper Dennis Hobbs. Her career in travel retail began at German fashion and accessories brand Hugo Boss, culminating in a successful stint as Global Head of Travel Retail, before she moved to Gebr. Heinemann in 2008 as Head of Category Management – Distribution.
She then became Sales Director Inflight & Catering before being named Heinemann Americas CEO in May 2016, a position she held until March 2022.
Reklaim senior executives will attend TFWA World Exhibition to meet potential partners. More on the company’s ambitions for travel retail will appear on our platforms soon. ✈
