UK. Manchester Airport today opened its new Escape Lounge in Terminal 1 to the public. The £1.7 million investment was officially unveiled and passengers were able to see the design, which includes separate areas for relaxation and business, including a self-contained meeting or private function room.
Over 100,000 passengers are expected to use the facility every year.
Manchester Airport Commercial Director Andrew Harrison said: “We set out to create a lounge which would stand out but which also had a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
“Our aim was to create a memorable experience for both our business and leisure passengers with great ambiance, service and food made to order, and we have incorporated some quirky touches such as the Scalextric track and Wii which will appeal to all ages, and hopefully help our customers to really enjoy the start of their journey.”
Mosaic Hospitality was recently announced as the caterer for the new Escape Lounge and will provide customers with a wide choice of refreshments and freshly made light meals.
The T1 Escape Lounge was initially announced in April alongside the launch of the “˜The Travel Extras Store’ on Manchester Airport’s website. The airport already has an Escape offering in T2 and hopes to launch one in T3 in the near future.
Manchester Airport unveiled over £80 million worth of improvements across its three terminals in the summer of 2009. Alongside the opening of the new lounge today the airport also has plans to introduce a Control Tower Bar to T1 by the end of the year.
Customers can book into the new lounge at www.manchesterairport.co.uk or by telephoning 0871 200 4450.
