New initiatives boost passenger satisfaction at Frankfurt Airport

GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport was ranked first among German airports across a range of service categories by a leading business magazine recently. The ratings underlined the airport’s drive to raise its passenger satisfaction levels, said parent group Fraport.

In the latest “˜Deutschland Test’ (an online readers’ survey of German airports) conducted by Focus Money, Frankfurt rated first across 33 different service categories.

Fraport AG Executive Board Chairman Dr. Stefan Schulte said: “This success shows that we are on the right track in making Frankfurt Airport even more attractive as Germany’s gateway to the world. We want our passengers to feel comfortable, to be satisfied, and to be happy to return again. We will continue working hard to achieve this goal. Especially now during the summer peak season – when we are serving some 200,000 passengers daily – this is particularly challenging.”

Initiatives such as a Personal Shopper service for key nationalities help drive penetration and spend as well as boost passenger satisfaction, said Fraport

The company said that the first-place ranking was an indication that the “˜Great to have you here’ service quality initiative (introduced in 2010) was paying off.

Initiatives include the expansion of free Wi-Fi access in the terminals to 24 hours a day, the My Airport Guide passenger escort service and the Personal Shopper service for Chinese, Japanese and Russian travellers.

Retail and food & beverage outlets have expanded their services by offering digital menu boards in various languages as well as Nation Guides showing which shops offer which brands.

Other additions include information kiosks and the free FRA Airport App, plus new children’s play zones and relaxation areas in the terminals.
