New York JFK set to welcome new Capital One Lounge

The Capital One Lounge network is expanding with an opening at John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4

US. JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT), which runs New York John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4, is set to add a Capital One Lounge to its line-up of passenger services.

While the opening date has yet to be finalised, the Capital One Lounge in T4’s Retail Hall will measure 13,000sq ft and offer the most expansive tarmac views of any Capital One Lounge yet.

As reported, Capital One Financial Corp opened an airport lounge at Denver International Airport late last year. It was the third location for the Virginia-based banking company, which also operates lounges at Dallas-Fort Worth International and Washington Dulles International airports.

Sense of Place: The focus is on offering lounge users authentic New York City tastes

The JFK T4 lounge aims to offer travellers a taste of the diverse city without having to leave the airport. Special culinary experiences will pay homage to New York City ‘classics’, including coffee and bagels. A cheesemonger will be on-hand to highlight local cheese from artisans in the nearby Hudson Valley and New York region, alongside cured meats and other dishes, paired with wine and beer selections.

The Capital One Lounge will also feature partnerships with local breweries, mixologists, coffee roasters and bakeries. Capital One’s ‘Perfect Airport Beer’ programme, which challenges a local brewer to create what they believe is the perfect airport beer as an exclusive brew, will be included.

The 13,000sq ft Capital One Lounge will be located in the Terminal 4 Retail Hall

Destination-inspired design elements will include works sourced from local artists, with a hanging glass sculpture from Brooklyn-based Shakúff Custom Lighting as a focal point for the lounge. The piece features small glass stones suspended in a cascading form to symbolise the varied and colourful experiences that Manhattan offers.

Above the main bar, another glass fixture will centre on a combination of hand-blown glass and brass elements that emulate vegetation inherent to New York City.

The lounge will also feature original artwork across various mediums from local artists and artisans.

Other amenities will include a full-service coffee bar, a grab-and-go food selection, fully stocked shower suites, power outlets at every seat and high-speed wifi. ✈
