USA. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and concessions manager Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports have revealed a new line-up of shopping and dining brands for Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal B. The offer, which carries a strong Jersey influence, covers 22 outlets and over 25,000sq ft.
Construction of the new dining and retail destinations is already underway, with eight locations currently open. The other brands will open throughout 2019, introducing three districts that were designed with inspiration from New Jersey settings: Jersey Shore boardwalks, Newark’s Ironbound section and a Garden State theme.
The Boardwalk district of Newark’s Terminal B aims to deliver a flavour of the Jersey Shore, with Newark and northern New Jersey represented by the Ironbound district’s culinary, cultural and artistic features. The Garden State will introduce fresh, local foods from New Jersey and evoke the state’s natural beauty.

At the heart of the experience is the Jersey by the Shore food hall, with Jersey boardwalk-inspired brands such as Malone’s Fish Market, Little Tony’s Pizzeria and Firehouse Subs. These are complemented by the Budweiser Brew House, which is also locally inspired: the flagship Anheuser-Busch brewery is located nearby in Newark.
Among the other dining outlets scheduled to open in Terminal B are Carlo’s Bakery– the Hoboken-based inspiration of TLC television show Cake Boss – Smashburger, Panda Express, Italian eatery Piattino: A Neighborhood Bistro, Salsarita’s Mexican Grill, The New Stand, offering a curated assortment of travel essentials, and Tony + Benny’s Pizza Parlor.
The new retail options also include two new shops featuring technology and electronics from InMotion and Wired.

Concession partners include Areas USA, Swiss Canonica Group, HMSHost, InMotion, Pacific Gateway Concessions and Villa Restaurant Group.
“From major airport redevelopment programmes to amenity enhancements, the Port Authority and its partners are committed to improving the customer experience at all of our airports,” said Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. “Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Airports is transforming Terminal B concessions into a unique dining and retail experience for travellers, with distinctive New Jersey concepts and menus to match.”
“The Port Authority, along with our terminal operators and concessionaires, is committed to improving the travel experience for our customers,” said Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton. “Across our airports, travellers are seeing important signs of progress not only on the outside, but inside of our terminals, from the addition of new retailers to enhanced amenities such as unlimited free Wi-Fi.”
“New Jersey has so much to offer – bustling cities, rural country sides, incredible diversity and a gorgeous coastline,” said Brad Tollefson, Vice President and Asset Lead at URW Airports. “We partnered with the Port Authority to capture and celebrate that energy and New Jersey attitude.”
The Terminal B concessions programme is a key component of the major redevelopment of Newark Liberty currently under way, including the largest design-build project in New Jersey history, the US$2.7 million Terminal One Redevelopment Program.
