FRANCE. In a breakthrough deal, Newrest and Supplair have signed a pan-European agreement to deliver design and product-led innovative solutions to their respective inflight customers.
To announce their partnership, a dinner was held at the Eiffel Tower in Paris on 5 March, 2007.
In a joint statement, the firms said: “In a market where competition is fierce and speed to market essential, the companies will seek to consolidate development resources and maximise their offerings.”
Newrest is already a customer of deSter/Supplair and manages many airlines that deSter/Supplair has direct relationships with.
Under the new deal, both companies will keep their independence, but will aim to give the best solution to new customers and ensure one route to market.
Newrest brings its long-term experience in the catering field, including its airport facilities network and specialist last-mile logistics. Supplair brings its innovative food and packaging solutions and its marketing and concept capabilities.
On signing the agreement, deSter CEO Lieven Cuyckens said: “We are delighted to move our mutual business forward in Newrest’s core market and will look for synergies in new markets and developments. Newrest are particularly strong in the Mediterranean Rim market and we see a large growth in design-led solutions in this sector.”
Newrest CEO Jonathan Stent Torriani commented: “It is essential that we focus on our core business and ensure our solutions are kept at the forefront of trends and innovation. By working together we have an opportunity to offer our customer base some exciting new opportunities.”
