BARBADOS. In what could be a blow for North American travel to Barbados; Canadians and Americans will now need a passport to enter the country.
Until now, photo identification and proof of citizenship have been the only requirements.
Cruise ship passengers considered to be in-transit are not subject to immigration control and, therefore, not required to carry a valid passport. They can go ashore using their ship’s magnetic identification card. Cruise ship passengers with trips beginning and ending in Barbados, however, require a passport.
