The Swarovski boutique at Zürich Airport features the Austrian brand’s Crystal Forest architecture |
SWITZERLAND. The Nuance Group has opened a Swarovski concept store in Zürich Airport’s Airside Center shopping area. Located on level one, the 45sq m monobrand shop also grows Swarovski’s partnership with Nuance in Europe, with ten shop-in-shop outlets currently operating across the region and two further shop-in-shops set to open next month.
The Nuance Group CEO Europe Andrea Belardini commented: “The opening of this new concept store in Zürich reaffirms our strong partnership with Swarovski, who share our vision for creating a truly outstanding retail environment. Having opened our first Swarovski store here in 2002, we are pleased to be one of the first European outlets for this exciting new concept which forms part of our wider expansion programme now under way at Zürich Airport.”
In March this year, Nuance announced its Zürich Airport concession had been extended until 2018, revealing plans to add over 3,000sq m of shop floor including new state-of-the-art walkthrough concepts for its existing tax free stores, which are expected to begin trading by the end of 2011. The company also plans to open two new spacious Arrivals duty free stores, as soon as the necessary Swiss legislation is in place.
The Swarovski opening also introduces the Austrian brand’s new Crystal Forest architecture to travellers. Conceived by award-winning Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka, the cascading façade provides a striking entrance to the store, complemented by a white prism wall interior design that aims to present the range of crystal, jewellery and Swiss-made watches to full effect.
Swarovski Vice President Travel Retail Peter Zottl said: “Swarovski considers Zürich Kloten one of the world’s leading airports. Further to our long and loyal co-operation with The Nuance Group, we are very happy to be present with a new and truly elegant shop. The Crystal Forest concept was developed by Tokujin Yoshioka to be subtle and slightly minimalistic, providing the perfect backdrop to highlight our crystal, jewellery and watch range in a most attractive and appealing way. With this shop, The Nuance Group and Swarovski offer passengers departing from Zürich Airport a first-class and state-of-the-art shopping experience before take-off.”
