Nuance-Watson (HK) brings 5-star airport ambience to The Peninsula Boutique at Hong Kong International Airport – 08/07/09

HONG KONG. Nuance-Watson (HK) and The Peninsula Merchandising Limited have jointly unveiled a new look for The Peninsula Boutique located in Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Terminal 1.

The revamped outlet is part of a series of ambitious retail developments and openings by Nuance-Watson (HK) since last year’s successful bid for a number of luxury brand boutique concessions at HKIA. It is located on Level 6 of the East Hall airside.

Nuance-Watson (HK) conducted the opening in association with Peninsula Merchandise and Airport Authority Hong Kong. The ceremony was accompanied by a harp performance and the welcome of the signature “˜Peninsula Page Boy’, re-creating the 5-star ambience and hospitality of The Peninsula Hotel, one of Hong Kong’s most iconic landmarks.

Nuance-Watson (HK) Regional Managing Director Alessandra Piovesana said: “We are proud to have established The Peninsula Boutique at HKIA and met our customers’ desires since we brought in the concept in 2003.

“The winning of the new concession against severe competition reflected the commercial success of this unique “˜Hong Kong Destination Concept’ that our team conceived and nurtured throughout the years, with the support of The Peninsula and Airport Authority Hong Kong.

“We will continue to bring innovation as well as re-inventing success stories to satisfy and keep apace with customers’ ever-changing aspirations and changing lifestyles. This is part of our commitment to Airport Authority Hong Kong, our customers, our brand partners and to our own growth.”

Joining Ms Piovesana at the opening ceremony were David Batchelor, Peninsula Merchandising General Manager; Martin Yim, Peninsula Merchandising Executive Assistant Manager; Eva Tsang, Airport Authority Hong Kong Retail and Advertising Business General Manager; Christina Cheng, Airport Authority Hong Kong Marketing & Business Development Assistant General Manager; and Clarice Au, Nuance-Watson (HK) Operation General Manager.

Since the brand made its world airport premiere at HKIA in 2003, food and souvenirs from The Peninsula Boutique have proved to be a huge hit, Nuance-Watson (HK) said.

For the first time, the renovated shop will also carry fine gourmet items such as caviar and foie gras as well as The Peninsula Chocolatier products, The Peninsula tea and other signature items from the famed Hong Kong landmark of hospitality.

While maintaining the elegant beige and gold colour scheme and the open architectural design of the original The Peninsula Boutique, the revamped outlet has added a 42″ LCD TV. This will be used to showcase the heritage and service of The Peninsula Hotels through a collection of videos – a first for The Peninsula Boutique worldwide.

Other new features include a prominent light box in the façade, a glass-fronted refrigerator for Western savouries and a re-modelled promotional table. These inclusions have created two instantly identifiable statements on either side of the store’s frontage, Nuance-Watson (HK) said.

To celebrate the opening, The Peninsula Boutique has several exclusive offers to airport customers, including half price to redeem The Peninsula Connoisseur Jam with a purchase of over HK$300 on Peninsula products; and a special price of HK$98 to redeem The Peninsula Bear Figurines, (valued at HK$280) with purchases of the famed Peninsula Connoisseur Mooncakes, which will be available from mid-July.

Apart from the stand-alone boutique, The Peninsula merchandise is also available elsewhere at HKIA in an expanded counter at Nuance-Watson’s The Plaza department store and the revamped Atrium store in the East Hall.
