HONG KONG. Nuance-Watson (HK) and L’Oréal have held the grand opening of Kiehl’s boutique at Hong Kong International Airport Terminal One East Hall. As revealed by The Moodie Report (April 26), this 25sq m stand-alone store is Kiehl’s first travel retail outlet worldwide. The outlet, which opened to shoppers last month, features a wide frontage in a prominent location in the East Hall.
Nuance-Watson, L’Oréal and Airport Authority Hong Kong officiated at the ceremony. They were joined by charity Camp Quality Hong Kong and made a cheque presentation to support the group’s programme for children with cancer.
Nuance-Watson (HK) Managing Director Alessandra Piovesana said: “We take pride in this achievement and we intend to continue to bring innovation at Hong Kong International Airport in order to respond to customers’ desire and lifestyle. This is part of our commitment to Airport Authority Hong Kong and to our own growth.”
Airport Authority Hong Kong Commercial Director Hans Bakker added: “It’s our pleasure that Kiehl’s has chosen Hong Kong International Airport to open their first airport shop. It further proves that our airport is the best business platform for international brands to showcase their products. We have seen many innovative retail and advertising concepts brought alive here.”
Nuance-Watson chose Kiehl’s for its potential to target the young urban generation – a new segment of customers at HKIA. The company said: “This lifestyle brand represents a blend of cosmetic and pharmaceutical specialties and holds a strong commitment to the community, which makes a unique offering to add value to the retail portfolio at the airport.”
Remi Chadapaux, General Manager of L’Oréal Luxury Products Division for Travel Retail Asia-Pacific, said: “This store sets up the model of development we want for the company in our very specific distribution. Our major goal is to respect the company spirit in all its aspects – its deeply rooted American origins, its relationship with the community and its unique merchandising.”
The boutique is offering exclusive travel retail sets. Each set is packaged with a special theme customised for different customer groups for both personal indulgence and gift-giving, such as The Ultimate Man Refuel Kit, The Getaway Collection and Baby Set. To add value to these sets, each includes deluxe samples, such as lip balm (one of Kiehl’s best-sellers), baby tee shirts, shaving cream and other items.
