California-based luggage and bag designer OGIO is underlining the durability of its travel-related products as its European division renews its focus on travel retail.
The brand was recently named official team luggage supplier to Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team. OGIO said the new collaboration underlines the brand’s capacity to meet the demands of travel, while maintaining vital elements of style and functionality.
A limited edition AMCF1 x OGIO range is supported by four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel, and talented Belgian-Canadian driver Lance Stroll on the OGIO Europe website.
OGIO was founded in 1987 by Michael Pratt, and is part of the Callaway Golf Company whose portfolio of global brands includes Callaway Golf, Odyssey, TravisMathew and Jack Wolfskin.
Brand innovations included the introduction of Structural Load Equalising Deck (SLED) technology, a hard plastic base and back panel to golf bags and rolling luggage. |
A spokesman for OGIO Europe said the brand was hoping to move into travel retail in 2020 before the industry was hit by the effects of the COVID pandemic.
OGIO Europe is waiting for a “more stable travel situation” to revise its expansion plans, he added.
The extensive OGIO travel line-up includes the Alpha Convoy Duffel Pack (RRP £69.30; US$98) and the four-wheeler Alpha Convoy Travel Bag (£183.20; US$259) which is designed to meet international airline standards. The brand also highlighted a Terminal Travel Bag (£143.96; US$204) and heavy-duty Rig 9800 (£269.95; US$383).
With an ‘ingeniously designed, technologically unrivalled’ tagline, OGIO’s mission it to design the world’s best performing bags. Its five-pillar production strategy includes durability, protection, ergonomics, mobility and sustainability.
The OGIO Alpha Convoy collection features Cordura Eco, a fabric made with recycled polyester yarns from discarded plastic bottles, with an average of 23 bottles per Alpha Convoy bag.
