Opening day arrives for new-look Kansai Airport T1 airside zone as retail dazzles: Part 1 – Beauty

JAPAN. If you chose to fly out of Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 yesterday rather than today (5 December), count yourself unlucky, writes Martin Moodie.

For at 6am local time, an elegant, expansive and alluring retail and food & beverage offer opened for business, part of the airport’s impressive and beautifully atmospheric new airside area.

The Moodie Davitt Report was honoured yesterday to be the sole foreign title to join a media preview of the facility.

The commercial offer is anchored by a 2,500sq m KIX Duty Free walk-through store, which opened alongside KIX Duty Free’s renewed pre-order service. This leads through to a further specialist, destination and luxury retail zone, complemented by a diverse food & beverage offer.

KIX Duty Free is run by Kansai Airports Retail & Services (part of Kansai Airports). Lagardère Travel Retail provides an extensive range of support services, including a supply contract.
