Origins unveils nocturnal thirst-quencher and introduces next generation of mineral make-up – 19/11/09

Origins’ new noctural thirst-quencher

UK. Origins has created a new product to address the skin’s unique night-time needs. Drink Upâ„¢ Intensive Overnight Mask, which began rolling out in travel retail this month, is said to instantly hydrate parched skin while helping to repair and reinforce its delicate moisture barrier.

The mask’s key thirst-quenching ingredients include Apricot Kernel Oil, Plant Glycerine and Sodium Hyaluronate. Orange Peel Wax, Avocado Oil and Mango Butters also help to replenish valuable moisture levels.

Night-time is an ideal time to apply such a mask, as this is when skin focuses on repair. However, skin is most metabolically active during the night, which causes its temperature to rise by approximately half a degree. This can lead to moisture loss and put skin at risk for future damage, hence the importance of nocturnal hydration.

“Studies have shown that skin is most permeable during the night, creating the optimal time to apply high-performance products that help support skin’s vital functions,” noted Dr. Lieve Declercq, Origins Global Spokesperson of Plant Physiology and Molecular Biology.

In an eight-week clinical test completed in March, the skin’s moisture level was proven to increase by up to 75% within minutes of applying Origins Drink Upâ„¢ Intensive Overnight Mask, according to the brand.

In other news, Origins has introduced what it describes as a new category of foundation, to help perfect the skin’s appearance. Multi-Grainâ„¢ Makeup SPF 14 is described as an oil-free, talc-free, fragrance-free loose powder foundation that smoothes onto skin, leaving it radiant and even-toned. It too is available in selected travel retail doors from this month.

Enriched with a unique collection of grains and antioxidants, the foundation provides skincare benefits, along with colour coverage.

Each daily serving of Multi-Grainâ„¢ Makeup SPF 14 provides skin with the wholesome goodness of finely-milled grains, nutritious oats, antioxidant vitamins and an all-natural sunscreen, the brand maintains.

“This multi-benefit powder is make-up that truly promotes healthy looking skin,” explained Lynn Mazzella, Origins Senior Vice President of Global Product Development and Sustainability. “Formulated with a nutritious blend of wholesome grains and potent antioxidants, this loose foundation provides great coverage while good-for-you ingredients work to boost skin’s look of health.”

A-list make-up artist Ciona Johnson-King added: “This is the next generation of mineral products. It has the ideal purity of mineral make-up but with added extras – easy application, beneficial ingredients and a perfect finish [with] no chalkiness or drying. The result [is] truly fresh, dewy and younger looking skin.”

The lightweight powder foundation comes in five shades, 01 Light, 02 Light/Medium, 03 Medium, 04 Medium/Deep, and 05 Deep.
